Obituary for Janet Lucchesi (Ficociello)

EAST BROOKFIELD- Janet Helen (Ficociello) Lucchesi,85, died peacefully on August 5,2018 in Harrington Memorial Hospital.

She was born on January 24,1933 in East Brookfield to Andrew and Sophie (Niejadlik) Ficociello. Janet graduated from David Prouty High School and managed the cafeteria at East Brookfield Elementary School for over 25 years.

Janet was predeceased by her sister Marion Spink and her loving husband John “Pico” Lucchesi who died in 1998. She is survived by her son Vincent Lucchesi and wife Crystal of Oakham, MA; her daughter Dr. Pamela Lucchesi and wife Linda Bradley of Waymart,PA; her sister Constance Rogers of Haverhill,MA; her granddaughters Sarah Lucchesi of Saco, ME and Emily Lucchesi of Hamilton, MA; her godson Timothy Spink of East Brookfield, MA, her goddaughter Kathleen Keefe of Atkinson, NH; four nieces Marcia Spink, Karen Lock, Maureen Perkins and Kelly Spencer, Esq.; several great-nieces and nephews.

A lifelong resident of East Brookfield, Janet spent her winter months in Naples FL and was active with her friends from St Leo’s Catholic Church and Abby on the Lake. Janet was a daily communicant at St John’s Catholic Church in East Brookfield and a frequent member of the “breakfast club”. She will be remembered as a dedicated mother, Grandma Ja, a loyal sister and aunt, a passionate Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics fan and for her famous lasagna nights, 4th of July parties and beautiful flower gardens. Her beloved Patriot’s ring (a gift from Sue and Larry Gordon) will remain in the family!

A Memorial Mass for Janet will be held on Tuesday, August 14,2018 at 11:00am in St.John the Baptist Catholic Church North Brookfield Rd. East Brookfield. A Calling hour will be held from 9:30-10:30AM prior to the Mass in Pillsbury Funeral Home 44 Gilbert St. North Brookfield . Burial will follow in Mary Queen of the Rosary Cemetery in Spencer. All are invited to attend a reception at the Spencer Country Inn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Putnam, 141 Rutherford Road, New Braintree MA 01531 (www.campputnam.org). The family extends a special thanks to Claire Belton, Konshayla Wilson, the VNA of Southern Worcester County and the nursing staff at Harrington Hospital for their kindness and special care.
