Obituary for Stella V. Jannette

BARRE- Stella Veronica Jannette, 91, was called home to the Lord on May 20, 2016 after a short illness.


Born April 23, 1925 in Barre, MA. she was the loving daughter of the late Beatrice and Joseph Jannette. Stella was the youngest of seven children and shared her mother’s passion for singing classical music. She had a lifelong passion for reading and writing. Her beautifully composed cards and notes will be missed by all. An avid seamstress, Stella’s custom clothing, drapes and upholstered furniture were popular with many friends and family.


Stella graduated from Barre High School in 1943 and began her career working in the family clothing business. At a young age, Stella and her sister Molly moved to Philadelphia, where Stella worked at Wannamaker’s Department store. Stella and Molly later moved to Miami, where Stella worked for the exclusive Elizabeth Arden’s of Miami and later for Mary Maytag McCahill at her religious shop, “The Key.” In the early 1970s Stella and Molly moved back to the family home in Barre to care for their aging parents. Stella then worked part time in the family businesses.


Stella leaves behind four nephews, George Crowley & wife Patricia of Farmington, CT., Richard Crowley & wife Eileen of Monroe, NJ., Joseph Jannette & wife Anne of North Brookfield, MA., Charles Mallozzi of Vero Beach, FL.; many grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews who brought so much joy to her life. Also, two devoted sister in laws, Clarice and Marion Jannette. Stella also leaves the love of her life, her cat Bella. Stella was pre-deceased by her six siblings, Armand, John, Rita, Mary, Albert and Molly, and her niece Colleen (Jannette) Sherman.


Relatives and friends may pay their respects from 9:30 - 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 25,2016 in Pillsbury Funeral Home 96 S.Barre Rd., Barre. A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM in St. Thomas A Becket Church Vernon Ave. South Barre. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
