Obituary for Alma B Clark Splaine (Keddy)

BARRE- Alma B. (Keddy) Clark Splaine, 94, formerly of 174 School St., Barre, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 9, 2016 in the Worcester Health Center.

She was born in Barre on October 21, 1922 the daughter of Ernest C. and Marion C. (Rutherford) Keddy. She grew up, along with her nine siblings on the Old Granger Farm, where their father had been caretaker. Alma graduated from Barre High School in 1940.

Alma married her first husband, Gerald F. Clark, and made a home of the house they built on School Street. They brought up their two beloved children, Steven W. and Susan E. in the home, while working for the Chas. G. Allen Co.. Years after Gerald passed away in 1977 at age 60, Alma married Edward Splaine of Southbridge, MA who pre-deceased her.

Alma was a very active member of the Barre Congregational Church where she served as the Sunday School Superintendant for many years. She was also President of the Women's Fellowship. Her passion was making crafts and wreaths for the annual Church Christmas Fair. She continued to share her passion of crafts with her family as they helped her make her seasonal crafts. In addition to being a crafter, she enjoyed travelling, sewing, and was an avid reader who was often seen with a good book in her hands. Family meals and gatherings were also especially important to her.

Alma leaves behind many cherished loved ones that brought so much joy to her life; her son Steven W. Clark and his wife Susan J. (Yanulis) Clark of Barre; Steven's daughter Heather L. (Clark) Pascale and her husband David L. Pascale of Barre and their children Jessica, the late David C., Luke and his son Elijah James, Gina, Olivia, Brianna, and Sophia; Steven's son Seth S. Clark and his fiancée Sarah F. Latka of Barre; her daughter Susan E. (Clark, Robillard) Bubie and her husband Charles Bubie of Poestenkill, NY; Susan's daughter Jamie S. (Robillard) Stine and her husband David Stine of Broken Arrow, OK and their children Tyler, Gabriella, and Jacob; Susan's son Joshua N. Robillard of Poestenkill, NY and his daughter Abigail. Alma also leaves behind her brother, Francis Keddy ; two sisters, Ruth Drolet and Myrtle Dwelly ; many nieces & nephews. Alma was pre-deceased by her six siblings, Clifford, James, John, Norman, Mary, and Mildred.

Alma was a very special lady. No matter if someone had only met her for a short time or known her for years, she had an extraordinary quality of being loved and respected by all. Alma dedicated her life to spreading unconditional love, happiness, and joy to her family. She had a generous heart to all around her and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM. in the Barre Congregational Church, 30 Park St., Barre, MA. A collation will be held immediately following the services.
