Obituary for Gertrude M Kennan

NORTH BROOKFIELD- Gertrude M. (Nealer) Kennan,88, a local artist, passed away on October 21,2017 in St.Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

Gertrude is predeceased by her husband of 61 years Herbert W. "Stretch" Kennan in 2010. She leaves 2 sons Herbert Jr. of Oakham and Randy of Telluride,CO.; a daughter Joy K.Quist of North Brookfield; 5 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a brother Reedy Nealer,Jr.

Gertrude was born in North Brookfield the daughter of Reedy and Anna Nealer. She attended St.Josephs Elementary School and graduated from North Brookfield High School. She worked as a secretary for JC McInnes Dept. Store in Worcester,later for Klevin Shoe Co in Spencer in the payroll Dept. and she was a well known local artist throughout Worcester County. She won several awards over the years and created numerous private paintings. Gertrude was a former member of the Spencer Artist Assoc., a present member of the Massasoit Art Guild , a longtime member of the former Worcester Extension Service and an active member of St.Josephs Church. She will be truly missed by all.

Friends and family are invited to attend a calling hour on Monday, October 30,2017 from 9:30-10:30AM in Pillsbury Funeral Home 44 Gilbert St. North Brookfield. The funeral will follow with a Mass at 11:00AM in St.Josephs Church 296 N.Main St. N.Brookfield. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
