NORTH BROOKFIELD- Rita (Connolly) Ruggere, loving mother and grandmother, passed on the morning of October 3rd, 2020 at the age of 70. Until the end, she lived on the farm she rebuilt over the years with her late husband Stephen.

She leaves behind her 3 “star” daughters, her 3 beloved grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was a champion for her husband during the arduous and turbulent fight for his life, and a constant rock for her daughters who will deeply miss her. Rita made everyone feel as though they were her favorite, caring for everyone the way she would her own children. Her nurturing and supportive way of loving resulted in the shelter, comfort, and healing of so many.

Rita was recently celebrated for her retirement from the Barre Family Health Center where she worked as a lab technician. She was incredibly loved by her team, and took great pride in her work. She often noted how much she valued the network of friends she had made there in her over 30 years of service.

Rita enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Always stopping to stroll through a yard sale, relishing in a “nice” cup of tea, sappy Hallmark movies, and endless puzzles. The thing she loved the most, however, was being with her girls and her grandchildren.

Due to the current state of public safety, Rita’s family will be hosting private services for her in their hometown. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Foundation or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the care of Pillsbury Funeral Home 44 Gilbert St. North Brookfield.

Your mom and I have worked together for many many years. We shared memories, our dreams and our hopes . We cried together when her Soul mate Stephen was so sick . I have three sons and Rita has three. Daughters so we always had family stories to share. To be a part of Rita’s life was a privilege. She could cheer me up in a heartbeat and we had many laughs together. I will miss her beautiful smile and open arms to anyone who was as blessed as I am to have known her.

Amy, Megan,Rebecca, so sorry for the loss of your beloved mother. She was a lifelong friend of mine. We went to high school together and your mother would frequently pick me up in her sister Mary’s stick shift blue car. On the occasion of our 50th reunion Rita spent the night at my house. We had such fond memories of the old days and she certainly bragged about her girls. I cannot express my deep sadness at her passing. Love and prayers to you all. Maureen (O’Connell) Peecha
