WEST BROOKFIELD- Margery (Snelgrove) Woodbury ,86, on December 19,2020 surrounded by the love of her family as her soul peacefully drifted towards the heavens.

Marge was more than just the oldest of 14, she was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother (Gigi) and friend. The daughter of Malcome & Pauline Snelgrove, Marge was born & raised in Putnam. After graduation Marge worked as a secretary. Soon afterwards she met the love of her life, Philip Woodbury of Woodstock, Ct, and married him on February 4, 1954. A few years later they moved to Huntsville, AL and adopted a day-old baby girl, Lori. She was then a homemaker to raise Lori. In 1963 Phil’s job called him to upstate New York so the family packed it up and headed north. They then moved to Connecticut and eventually Massachusetts in 1981, where they built their dream home, a log cabin on a quiet street with 20 acres. Before she and Phil owned a video store and a pet store, she was a CNA then the purchasing agent for that nursing home. A few years after they “retired” she found herself working at the Sturbridge, MA, Wal-Mart in the craft department. It was the best job she ever had; she would tell you.

In 2002 she and Phil decided to escape the winters and trade them for the Florida sunshine. Phil passed in May of 2005 and in November of 2010, she moved to South Carolina to be with her daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, her husband and their son. She moved one last time, this time back to Massachusetts with Lori in 2018 to be closer to her two grandsons and 4 great-grandchildren. She loved being Gigi and watching the kids grow up.

In her free time throughout her life, she liked to tend to her garden, sew, knit & crochet. She would knit hats & mittens and donate them to local charities. She would also crochet lap robes and donate them to Meals on Wheels. When Shayla showed her how to browse the web, she learned how to order yarn online and couldn’t wait for her package to arrive. In their younger years, she and Phil enjoyed jumping on their motorcycles and going on adventures around New England. She enjoyed eating out at restaurants, anything her grandsons would cook and king crab legs.

Predeceased by her parents, Malcome & Pauline Snelgrove, her husband, Philip Woodbury and her son in-law Steven Perrin (2012). Marge leaves behind her daughter Lori Perrin of West Brookfield, her granddaughter Shayla Joy and her husband Greg Joy of Columbia, SC, and their son Hunter. She also leaves her grandson Craig Brothers and his girlfriend Jill Porier of Sturbridge, MA and Craig’s son Cole of Pittsfield, MA, and her grandson Andrew Fusco and his wife Marcie of West Brookfield, MA and their 3 children Alexis, Walter & Harper. Marge was also predeceased by three of her siblings and leaves behind many.

Marge wasn’t one to be fussed over. Instead, she would like everyone to remember her in their own way, light a candle or say a prayer in her honor as she has requested no services be held. In lieu of flowers please donate to the SCAD Alliance (, a heart foundation she was familiar with, in which studies a rare form of heart attack her granddaughter Shayla suffered in 2019, or to the American Cancer Society ( Arrangements are under the care of Pillsbury Funeral Home 3 West Brookfield Rd. Brookfield.
