NORTH BROOKFIELD- Lois E. MacDonald,91,of Amherst, formerly of North Brookfield, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020 at Cooley Dickenson Hospital in Northampton, MA after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She succumbed to COVID-19.

Lois is survived by her 3 children Judith Loischild of Amherst, Karen MacDonald of Amherst, and Elizabeth Wimberly & her husband Michael of Ware; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William MacDonald in 2002.
Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, the daughter of Judith (Larson) and Charles Russell, Lois graduated from Waltham High School in 1948. She worked as a bookkeeper prior to her marriage, and also for Zayre Corp., now TJX, later in her life.Lois had a lifelong love of her family,and enjoyed keeping up with her children and grandchildren. Lois relished taking her dog Lucy for walks in later years. She was involved in church activities, but always wanted to keep her role in the background. Her commitments to her children and her church were always very important to her.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers at the Arbors of Amherst and the nursing staff on C-3 of Cooley Dickinson for the excellent care they gave Lois in her final days.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021in Walnut Grove Cemetery in North Brookfield. A memorial service will be held at a later date when it is safe to do so.
